Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the AR Sundial Builder mobile app (the “App”), published by Base Nine Studios (“we”, “us”), handles information. It also covers this website. If you have questions, contact us at apps@baseninestudios.com.

Data we collect

In the app: none that leaves your device. The App does not require an account, a sign-in, or a network connection to build a sundial. We do not operate servers that receive your data, and we do not sell or share personal information - because we never receive it in the first place.

What the app stores on your device

To do its job, the App saves the following locally on your phone (using the device’s own on-device database and preference storage):

• Saved dials - the sundials you build and their geometry.
• Field sessions & measurements - latitude, true north, and solar-noon values you measure or enter, with their status and provenance.
• Shadow observations - timestamped shadow marks used by the off-grid tools.
• Preferences - units, theme, and other settings.

This information stays on the device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party. Removing it is entirely in your control (see Your data & how to remove it).

Device permissions

The App asks for a small number of permissions, each used only for the feature it names:

• Camera - used to show the live augmented reality view so the sundial overlay can be drawn over the real world. The camera feed is processed on your device to render the overlay. The App does not record video, take photos, or save or upload the camera feed.
• Location - used on your device to determine your latitude and to help find true north (for example, magnetic declination). Your location is used for these calculations on the device and is not sent to us. You can decline location and enter or measure these values manually with the off-grid tools instead.
• Notifications - used only for local reminders (for example, to call you back to mark a shadow after a wait). These are scheduled and delivered on your device.

The App does not request microphone access or permission to read or write your photo library or external storage.

Purchases

If and when in-app purchases become available, they are processed by Google Play under Google’s terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment details. Any purchase records used to unlock features are handled through the store’s billing system.

This website

This website is a static informational page. It may use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization) to understand aggregate traffic. If enabled, this measures visits in aggregate and is not linked to your identity. The website does not require an account and does not ask you to submit personal information.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal data, none is gathered from any user, regardless of age.

Your data & how to remove it

Because everything is stored on your device, you are always in control:

• Delete individual dials, sessions, or observations from within the App.
• Clear the App’s data from your device settings (Android: Settings → Apps → AR Sundial Builder → Storage → Clear data).
• Uninstall the App, which removes its on-device data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
